New Hampshire House Approves Marriage Bill

The marriage bill in New Hampshire has passed! After surprisingly passing in the state senate last week, the bill has narrowly passed in the house; 178-167.   Woot Woot.   Governor John Lynch is now in control of the fate of the marriage bill in New Hampshire.  Will he sign it?  I am not sure but here are some facts about Gov Lynch:

  • Serving 3rd term
  • Democrat and business man
  • Believes marriage should be between a man and a woman
  • Once again, a DEMOCRAT!!!!!!!!!
  • Currently wielding great power to the gay community of his state

Gov Lynch, could you please sign the bill?  I just don’t know what will happen with this one.

I am still excited about the gain in DC yesterday and the bizarre performance of Marion Barry totally flipping his wig.

Maine Becomes Fifth US State to Support Gay Marriage

I love how they just keep coming!

Maine has become the fifth state in the United States of America to treat gay people equally under the law.  Governor John Baldacci  signed the state’s gay marriage bill today.  Simply put, the legislature and the Baldacci did the RIGHT THING!

Maine Senate Supports Man on Man Mutuals

Maine is on the way to allowing us gays to hitch the knot, that is, if we want to!  I follow this issue like crazy but I have no plans to marry yet!  It’s my hobby.  See, civil rights for me is comparable to how straight boys follow sports!

Now the Maine senate has approved the first measure of the bill.  Next, it goes to the house, then back to the senate.

AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Senate gave two nods of approval to a bill to legalize gay marriage after extended and emotional debate Thursday.

The measure now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration next week, and then back to the Senate for a third, and perhaps final, vote.

In initial voting, the Senate voted 20-15 to give its preliminary approval. Next, an amendment to require a statewide referendum on the matter was rejected, 22-13. Then the Senate registered its support for the original measure again, this time by 21-14.

As it says, an amendement requiring a statewide referendum was smashed.

Let’s wait and see what happens!

New Hampshire Senate Votes For Same Sex Marriage

I wasn’t feel hopeful yesterday, but I was wrong.    I couldn’t be happier!

The New Hampshire senate voted for same sex marriage in what many are saying is a stunning about face and totally unexpected.  Check out bits from  Boston.com:

The New Hampshire Senate voted today to allow same-sex couples to marry, setting the state in motion to become the fifth in the country to legalize same-sex marriage.

New Hampshire’s House of Representatives has already approved the bill, but the Senate amended the language slightly before passing it on a 13-to-11 vote, meaning the House must approve the changes, reject them, or confer with the Senate before sending the bill to the governor.

So it goes back to the house to vote on the changes.  The house approved this quite easily earlier, so I don’t see that being a problem.

With House approval expected, supporters and opponents are closely watching Governor John Lynch, a Democrat who has opposed same-sex marriage in the past and has not indicated whether he would sign or veto the latest measure.

Nobody knows what Lynch will do.  He is a democrat, has stated he doesn’t belive in same-sex marraige, and support civil unions.   New Hampshire is more conservative than surrounding states that have gay marriege like Vermont and Conneticut.

All I have to say is, Governer Lynch, DO THE RIGHT THING.

do
